Requirements to apply
- A completed upper secondary school diploma. You must have finished upper secondary school and attach your final grades when you apply.
- Good Swedish and English. If you lack the right English grade, you can complete it at Komvux (municipal adult education).
- There is no upper age limit. For the student licence, the EU rules require you to be at least 18.
- LFV has no minimum admission score, and the Swedish Scholastic Aptitude Test (högskoleprovet) cannot be used.
- Foreign grades must be translated.
- You must be in full health and meet the class 3 medical requirements. Read more in the medical guide.
The selection
LFV opens for applications twice a year, and the whole selection can take up to six months. First comes a web test of about 30 minutes. Then FEAST I, about three hours in Malmö or Stockholm, and about two weeks later FEAST II with work samples of about five hours.
After the tests you fill in a personality questionnaire and do a competency-based interview. A panel makes the decision. After that come the medical examination, a background check and a security interview. According to LFV, the test results are valid for five years.

The training
- The training takes about 2.5 years: 1.5 years at Entry Point North in Hyllie, Malmö, and about one year at a workplace, where you are employed by LFV as a trainee.
- Entry Point North has been run since 2006 by LFV together with the IAA in Ireland and Naviair in Denmark. The school does not take private students.
- The training is paid company training, so you do not pay for it yourself. During the school period you are entitled to student finance from CSN. You arrange your own accommodation.
- The theory covers, among other things, air traffic rules, air navigation, aviation meteorology and aviation English. The theory exams require 75 per cent correct, and there are resits. If you do not reach the course goals, the training is stopped.
After the training
You continue at the LFV unit where you are placed. Placement is based on LFV’s needs, and your wishes are taken into account as far as possible. If you complete the training you are offered a job, and the licence is valid throughout Europe.
